About this site
Companion CO Design is an editorial website focused on interior and home design. The site runs on WordPress. Registration for readers is closed and there is one site administrator. By visiting or commenting, you share certain information with us so we can operate the site, moderate conversations, and keep the service reliable.
What we collect and how it reaches us
We receive information in three main ways: when you load pages, when you leave a comment, and when our hosting and content delivery network (CDN) record routine server logs.
- Comments: If you leave a comment on a post, WordPress asks for your name, email address, and (optionally) a website URL. Your IP address and browser user agent are also captured to help with spam detection and moderation.
- Site operation: When you visit the site, our hosting environment and CDN automatically receive your IP address, the pages you request, your browser type, and the time of the request. This is standard for serving web pages and preventing abuse.
- Administration: WordPress sets session cookies for the logged-in site administrator. Readers do not get admin cookies.
Comments and community moderation
Comments are open by default on most articles. Submitted comments, along with the information you provide and related technical metadata (such as IP address and user agent), are stored so we can display the conversation, respond, and manage spam.
If you choose to leave a comment, you may also opt to have WordPress store your name, email, and website in cookies on your device so you do not have to retype them next time.
Cookies and local storage
This site uses a small number of cookies necessary for core functions:
- Commenter convenience cookies that remember your details if you opt in when commenting.
- Session cookies for the site administrator when logged in.
What we do not use
We do not run advertising on this site. We do not use affiliate tracking. We do not use third-party analytics tools.
How we use your information
We use the information we receive to publish and maintain the site, display and moderate comments, protect the site from spam or misuse, troubleshoot problems, and measure basic site reliability (for example, understanding error rates from server logs). We do not sell personal information.
Who can see the information
Within Companion CO Design, only the site administrator can access comment submissions and related metadata.
Our hosting provider and CDN process network requests and keep standard server logs as part of delivering the site. These service providers act as processors of that technical data. We do not otherwise share personal information with third parties.
How long we keep it
Comments and their metadata are kept for as long as they remain published or are needed for moderation and site integrity. You can ask us to remove your comment.
Server and CDN logs are kept for a limited period necessary for operations, security, and troubleshooting, and may be retained longer in the event of an investigation into abuse or technical issues.
Your choices and rights
You can choose not to leave a comment. If you have previously commented, you may request that we remove or edit your comment, or provide a copy of the personal information you supplied.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to our processing of your personal information. We will honor applicable requests and will explain any limits that may apply, for example when we need certain data to operate the site or meet legal obligations.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Details about cookies used on this site are also described in our Cookie Policy.
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for a general audience interested in design and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age where consent is required in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal information on this site, contact us and we will address it.
International visitors
Our servers and CDN may process data in multiple locations. By visiting the site, your information may be transferred to and processed in regions that may have different data protection laws than your home jurisdiction.
Updates to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page. Please check back from time to time for the latest version.
